There's no place like home

(Almost two weeks later and I'm finally getting around to publishing this post. You know, I never promised I'd be any good at this, guys!)

So, I recently took a trip to my hometown of Lake George, in Upstate New York with my lovie. We spent five perfect days in at my childhood home, spending time with my family and friends, buzzing around the lake (by kayak and by motor boat!), drinking, relaxing, and otherwise adventuring around LG as one does in summertime.
After some thought, I had realized that this trip was one of my longest stays at home since I had moved out after college over two years ago, and it was great. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love living on my own in Massachusetts- having my own apartment, friends, job, lifestyle, etc. And of course, I have been home for holidays and birthdays, doctor's appointments, and other visits here and there. Mostly though, they've only been for a night or two. It sounds cheesy, I know, but Dorothy was onto something when she said "there's no place like home."
Now, I promise not to get too sappy and overindulgent in my emotions, but I will say this: Lake George is a special place. Spend some time outside of the Adirondacks, I dare you, come back and you'll see. There's a special smell, a special feeling you get, a special aura to this place- one that doesn't compare. I challenge you to find a better feeling than relaxing on a boat, in the middle of this lake, at sunset. Or plunging into the brisk water on a hot summer day. Maybe ripping up the frozen lake in February on a snowmobile. Everyone has their own spot, their own activity, or their own memories of this place. Bottom line is, it's special. It's something to cherish. And I do. And always will. Thanks for the fun, LG. See you soon!

Wow, oops! I almost went an entire post about talking about photography. Well deserved, I suppose. As you've seen a lot of, these photos were all shot on my iPhone 6s and edited (slightly) on my iPad Pro.
Though I had brought my Nikon up with me on the trip, I never took it out once. Something that I'm starting to resent my iPhone for. For travel and for small day trips, I find it's way more convenient just to carry around my phone, rather than my entire DSLR system. At the end of my trips though, I'm always a little sad that I never did any "real" shooting. When will I learn? I tried making a resolution for myself at the beginning of the year (HA!) to be more active in my shooting - specifically with my Nikon - to maintain and inspire my creativity. Clearly, that hasn't gone so well, but now in my retrospective state at nearly 11pm, I want re-challenge myself. Stay tuned for how long it takes for me to fall off the wagon - or not even get back on! - again this time. It's always good to laugh at and make fun of yourself right? Oh well..
Until next time!
